What is Labour Law?
Labour law is a body of legislation that defines your rights and obligations as workers and employers in the workplace.

At Community level, labour law covers two main areas:

* Working conditions, including working time, part-time and fixed-term work, and posting of workers
* Information and consultation of workers, including in the event of collective redundancies and transfers of undertakings.

Hello Friends,
I'm just about to complete my graduation this july.....Hence in my free time prefer surfing net to get information about a good post graduation course.Coming to this post got to knew about labour law.It seems quiet a good field to built in my career.

Labour Law, it is spelt as Labor Law in the US. Toungue This is the term that we should be aware of if we are off to work in a different country. Labor law is the body of laws, administrative rulings, and precedents which address the legal rights of, and restrictions on, working people and their organizations. Labor law relates to the tripartite relationship between employee, employer and union. Labor rights have been integral to the social and economic development since the industrial revolution.

I think these all the truth regarding the labour law is absolutely correct but at the same time the person who is working in the organization should also obey the rule of that organization. Other things are as usual as in all the company.

The Company we were working was taken over by another co. three years ago.Within one year the new management has sent out almost 50% of the staff.Even though two years have over, their full and final has not been settled in spite of many letters.All emails sent to the MD,Directors remain unanswered.Is there any way to collect the settlement .I request the members to advise in this regard.

This is really very good and nice information regarding labour law. I have heard about different kind of laws but don't know about this type law which defines our rights and obligations as workers and employers in work place. Great post.

The labour law is Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act (MSPA) was enacted to protect migrant and seasonal farm workers, agricultural employees, and migrant housing suppliers. But certain types of labour contractors and employees are exempt under limited circumstances. Employees are entitled to receive the terms and conditions of their jobs written in their own language.

* Industrial relations - the certification of unions, management, labor relations, collective bargaining and unfair labor practices
* Health and Safety
* The employment standards, including public holidays, annual leave, working hours , unfair dismissal, minimum wages, dismissal procedures and severance pay
