Cool Welcome to the student cooking forum!
Hi and welcome to the student cooking forum!

We know cooking may not be a fun task for everyone when you're a student, especially when you're on a budget and don't always have plenty of time to cook a decent meal.

We've created this forum so students can post their recipes to share with everyone else, whether you have only 15 minutes to spare or 2 hours!

You can also post general tips on cooking, such as different ways of cooking vegetables and how to budget efficiently for your weekly shopping.

Hopefully by sharing cooking advice and recipes, this will help students see how easy it is to make a simple and tasty meal, and not resort to take-out every night! It will also improve your culinary skills, so you can impress your family and friends when you return home for the holidays!

You may wish to check out our Studential Cookbook, which has loads of information on various aspects of student cooking, including our own recipes section.

If you have any suggestions on how we can improve it, please email us at info@studential.com.

Happy cooking everyone!!

RE: Welcome to the student cooking forum!
I had recently completed my Computer Engg. I was as Paying Guest in one Flat.
So every day i had to cook by my self only, there was not extra time to spend in cooking obviously.
I cooked some specific dishes every alternate day which give me healthy food and which also made easily and fast.
Veggie Deluxe Sandwich:
Ingredients:
1.2 slices whole wheat bread
2.2 Tbsp. hummus
3.1 small tomato, sliced
4.2 oz. low-fat cheese
5.1 large leaf of lettuce, torn into large pieces
6.1⁄4 avocado, sliced
7.Other veggies of your choice (shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, onion slices, etc.)
8.Dash of vinegar & olive oil (optional)
Directions:
1. Spread the hummus on one side of each slice of bread
2. Add all other ingredients in layers
3. Add the vinegar & oil over the veggies.

I also have a better a recipe for a sandwich which gives the fast making and is healthy too. I used to make it when I was leave as a paying guest this time when my cook was not able to came. It is a simple baked egg and tomato sandwich.
Take a whole grain sandwich and put a slice of a lean ham on it by adding a few slices of the tomatoes and a baked egg. You can sprinkle a pepper only if you wish to and the sandwich is ready within 15 minutes.

RE: Welcome to the student cooking forum!
there's some good ideas on this site resourceful cook the recipes aren't too challenging and they're pretty tasty too! it plans out your meals out for the entire week and saves you tons of money. i used to spend about £30/wk now i spent at least half of that. there's even a menu on there for £7/wk and it's not vegetarian! Smile brilliant!
