RE: Primary Education

I am too applying for an primary education course too!!! Any advice i would give you is to read up on some recent educational issues such looking in some broadsheet newspapers (e.g. The Times, Observer, Telegraph, Guardian) in the education sections or look on their websites. An article i found interesting was on whether parents should have access to teachers through text and email - it was in one of the nwspapers above that i mentioned. Also,my advice would be to go over personal statements and the course you have applied for as questions will be asked on this such as why did you apply to this particular uni? or what interested you the most about the specific course? Also think about why you want to be a teacher etc and what you think your main strengths and weaknesses are. Be confident and yourself, keep eye contact, contribute to group tasks and be happy and smiley - interviewers love that - shows your confidence!!!!! Hope you get a chance to read this before the interviews and hope it helps!!!

I applied to Greenwich, Roehampton, Kingston and Herforshire for Primary teaching! What about everyone else?

I got unconditonal offer yesterday for Primary teaching from GreenwichSmileafter writing an essay, sort written task, group interview and individual interview on 10th January and have a Roehampton 7th February and Kingston interview 14th February + written tasks to do.....yikes! Thanks for that advise it is really helpful I will remember it for my remaining interviews.

Sounds so similar for what I had to do for Greenwich! This is what I had to do:

1.Overview of course.
2.Short written task 150-200 words of what you hope to gain by doing the primary teaching course.
3.Had to write an essay beforehand, before interview on any issue relating to primary education and had to hand this in.
4.Tour of univesity and lunch.
5.Group interviews in 3......we all had to talk a couple of minutes each about the essay we had to write at home and then the interviewer asked the other applicants if they had any questiosn regarding what you said! (Did you have to write any essay before hand)?
5.Individual interviews.

Where have you applied?

Good luck everyone!

Evryone let me know how it's going!

RE: Primary Education

Possible interview questions for primary teaching.

Why do you want to be a primary school teacher?
Why this university?
What do you hope to gain from doing this course over the 3 years? (150-200 words on this).
What are the current issues relating to primary school education?
How can a teacher ensure they apply the equal opportunity policy?
What kind of school do you see yourself teaching in?

I hope this helps!
