Hi, my name’s Sarah and I work for http://www.hero.ac.uk. If you’re a student you may well have used the site. If not, it’s an information site for all prospective students.
We’re trying to give people as much information as we can about being a student. What many people thinking of going to uni want to know is what uni life is actually like? What are students like? What is the day-to-day life of a student? And that’s where the student bloggers come in.
We’re looking for a few people (students or about to become students) to produce some blog posts throughout the year. Some posts will be about your experiences as a student – how it’s going, what you’ve been up to, what you had for tea etc etc – your own little soap opera if you will. We’ll also be asking you to produce some ‘opinion pieces’ on topical issues, say tuition fees, or work load for example.
While the roles are not paid (only because the site is a non-profit information site and we are hoping that we can offer you some incentives in return for your writing), they will provide really good experience if you’re looking to work in higher education or journalism or just want to boost your CV. You’ll get feedback, guidance and complete support as you go and you’ll get to see your name and your writing on the internet.
The site gets a lot of traffic-150,000 unique visitors a month at last count.
Interested? If this sounds like something you fancy please drop me a message at herostudentblog@gmail.com or a PM here, tell me a bit about you, why you’re interested and perhaps a couple of ideas you might have for blog posts.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, what you are studying or where. We want a mix of people. Journalism students are more than welcome, but equally so are maths students, medics or anyone with something to say. I am also looking for someone who is starting uni this year.
I look forward to hearing from you, Sarah.
