RE: Introductions

Hi Im jess....I have just done a first draft of my personal statement...I dont really like it much....but i always beat up what i write...anyway...please tell me truthfully what you think...in a nice way if possible please..i dont want to cry myseft to sleep tonight!!!!!
Please point out silly mistakes aswel im not good at proof reading...or spelling...hummmmm???

When I left college in 2006 I was scared and confused, I didn't have a clue about my life and what I was to do. I knew I didn't want to carry on with performing arts as, I could no longer see a future in it. I felt upset and guilty for not going to university like everyone else, all my friends left home and I had no one, so I started full time work and for the past two years I have lived a very dull life. I have been thinking about the future everyday, it happened by chance that I found the TV and radio production course at Farnborough college and for the first time in two years I was excited about my future.
My main reason for wanting to do the course in TV and radio production is to go on and do the MA in radio and gain more education in radio, I am interested in the radio side of the subject more so because I see my future settling on this side, but I have chosen to select a subject that has two complimenting areas of media and I am eager to learn about both, because the more understanding and knowledge I have will give me more opportunity to me.
Radio Is something that I really want to get involved in because it can give people voices, its a great source of entertainment and it has a lot more life than a CD. I started to listening to the radio religiously when I was 11, my parents got divorced and listening to the radio stopped me feeling alone because after the song there was always a voice that followed. I believe that music is therapeutic, it can make you feel great, help your understanding, open your eyes and heal you.
I think I can be part of this because communicating is something I do everyday, all my jobs, work experience, and education has required me to communicate with all kinds of people and I love it. I really enjoy meeting people, helping, talking, debating and giving advice. I love finding new music and going to gigs, I have been to see a verity of bands, the most exciting parts of a gig is listening to the new bands finding out what there like, looking around and knowing everyone is doing the same thing as you, and when the band plays a song you really love and everyone goes crazy.
I Know that I have no relevant experience in the subject but I feel that, performing arts has taught me a lot that I can use in this new subject, like performing arts the exams are a hundred percent practical, at the tertiary college, we would perform a new play in just over a month, we would all have to learn are lines, build the stage, get all props, costumes, lighting, music, sounds and actions and acting all put together in that time, we all had are own sections, but we gave as much help to each other as possible, this made me work hard and keep to deadlines because if you don't you let the group and your self down. The lessons also taught me how to work in groups of large and small people, it helped me express myself and gave me space to share and develop my ideas. It also gave me confidence and presence, I used to help show prospective students around the college on open nights and tell them all about performing arts and what the course was like,it was rewarding seeing the students that we showed around join the department,
I know that after working in dead end jobs and having moments of no hope, I have am in the right frame of mind to learn, I really want it and have the drive to move forward with my life. This course is the hope I have been looking for, I have never been more sure and am looking forward to hearing from you.
